Leisa’s Story

"As an artist, I experience opportunities here that are hard to find anywhere else."

Leisa works on her commissioned community mural at the Lanesboro Public Library.

Leisa Luis-Grill is a 57-year old artist from Rochester, MN.

Although she has considered herself an artist since childhood, it wasn’t until Leisa left her career as a nurse that she was able to actively pursue painting. The Lanesboro Arts Juried Sales Gallery was one of the first galleries Leisa approached to carry her work, spurring the start of a fruitful relationship. “As an artist, I experience opportunities here that are hard to find anywhere else.”

In addition to showing her work in the gallery, Leisa has performed painting demonstrations, served on the sales gallery jury, and was commissioned by the Lanesboro Public Library for a community-wide mural project in 2014. From 2014-2017, Leisa served on the Lanesboro Arts Board of Directors, lending her perspective as a community-minded, professional artist. To Leisa, Lanesboro Arts is “a warm, nourishing little boost for my soul every time I walk in the door. It can’t help but affect my life and work in a positive, lasting way.”
