The iconic portraits by Mary Solberg make use of various media including acrylic, charcoal, oil, beeswax and metal leaf. The paintings utilize traditional portraiture techniques which are inspired by the masters, religious iconography,  ancestor portraits and circus sideshow banners. The finished icons illuminate the sacred in all of us by rendering the subject in a gilded eternal present, which celebrates, commemorates and elevates.
