Rivers, prairies, Arctic expanses, savannahs and night skies all articulate spaces of quiet mystery. These are the places where Lois searches for traces of the elusive. As she draws, she considers the existence of what might exist beyond what one can see. The drawings are not meant to be the end product, but rather the next step of an investigation into something much larger than themselves. Lois wants to understand what language cannot explain, a knowledge that exists beyond human limits. Drawing is a process that she uses to search for what one can only sense to be true.
