Youth Drama Workshop

Join Elizabeth Dunn and Brandt Roberts for two drama workshops!

Lanesboro Arts welcomes all experience levels of youth ages 8 to 12 for dramatic storytelling two class course. This workshop will combine movement, storytelling, and artful mask decorating. This course will be an art experience with the opportunity to explore new mediums with professional actors as the instructors. 

Elizabeth Dunn has been with the Commonweal for five seasons. Favorite credits include The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge, Scotland Road, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Dracula: Prince of Blood. She has done multiple tours with Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre, and lived in Chicago for a stint, where she studied improvisation at iO (formerly ImprovOlympic). Originally hailing from Georgia, Elizabeth is a 2010 graduate of Valdosta State University where she earned her B.F.A. in Theatre Arts.

Brandt Roberts is in his fifth season at the Commonweal. Favorite roles include John Merrick in The Elephant Man, D’Artagnan in The Three Musketeers, Ragnar Brovik in The Master Builder, Fancourt Babberley in Charley’s Aunt, Teddy Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace. Cherished regional credits include The Woman in Black and Treasure Island at the Shawnee Theatre and Measure for Measure and Henry IV Part I at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. Roberts holds a B.A. from Harding University and an M.F.A. in Performing Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Dates: Tuesday, July 28th & Wednesday, July 29th (the course is designed for students to participate in both days not just one)

Time: 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.

Location of Day One, July 28th: Behind the St. Mane Theatre then walking to Gateway Park

Location of Day Two, July 29th: Gateway Park

Ages: 8-12 years

Space is limited to 6 students so please register in advance. All supplies are included with a registration fee of $20 (this covers the cost of both days). Contact Kara at 507-467-2446 ext. 3 if a participant needs financial assistance.

COVID-19 precautions are in place for this activity. Attendance is capped at 6 children. The classes will be taught outdoors and will maintain proper social distance of 6 feet apart. Teachers and participants will wear masks. Supplies will not be shared between students; instead, there will be pre-packaged materials for each student.
