Songwriters in the Round Concert

  • June 29 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
  • St. Mane Theatre

Join area singer-songwriters for a unique acoustic musical experience with the second Songwriters in the Round concert at the St. Mane Theatre. On Saturday, June 29th at 7 pm, audience members will be immersed into this intimate concert setting, where local and regional musicians will share their original songs, along with the inspirations and stories behind them!

Each concert in this three part series will be presented in a Nashville-style round robin format, which removes the usual distractions of a normal gig, and allows the audience to be drawn into the emotional heart of each song. The first Songwriters in the Round concert took place on Saturday, April 27th. The third and final concert will be on Saturday, October 5th.

Tickets for Songwriters in the Round on June 29th are $20 ($15 Lanesboro Arts Members).

For those who are curious about the songwriting process, each Songwriters in the Round concert will also offer a paired Songwriting Workshop led by one of the night’s performers. At 2 pm on June 29th, join Jordan Messerole for “It’s Not All About You: Building Stories/Songs from Outside Your Own Life.” Learn more about this workshop and register to participate for only $5 here.

Featured Musicians:

Jordan Messerole is a multi-award winning songwriter who draws from the depths of his Iowa roots to write songs that vary as greatly as the wild flowers in the native tall grass. His lyrics meander across the lines between love and loss, success and failure, or life and death. Messerole blends his thoughtful lyrics, guitar and harmonica skills, and engaging stage presence to tell gritty American tales bound to evoke the audience’s emotions.

Ted Hajnasiewicz is driven to write the perfect song. The Minneapolis-born singer/songwriter performs with a magnetizing honesty and reflective tone that speaks to the very essence of the human spirit. Ted is a prolific writer who enjoys co-writing in various styles. He performs as a solo artist, as well as with his songwriting partner Doyle Turner in the International Treasures, and with his rock and roll band HebbaJebba.

Laura Lamb stands as a luminary singer-songwriter & artist whose music parallels the spirit of the 60’s pop golden era. The Minnesota native sings with a sultry, ember-like tone that is silencing rooms inside the heat of Nashville, the Music City. Her album, “Candy Land” is slated for release in 2024 and was produced by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Misa Arriaga. Laura Lamb plans to take the album on theroad across the country to share the beauty and pain of love found and love lost through her music.

Sarah Peterson has been writing songs since she was a kid, but decided to dive into the craft of songwriting about 5 years back. Since then, she has written with other songwriters all over the world. Recent success include a song on rotation on Sirus XM radio (If Country Was a Town) and two songs in rotation on Malaysian Radio Stations (Glitter and Gold, Together). With a heart for lyrics she delivers songs that break your heart and heal it at the same time. From her home base in Lanesboro she developed her first artist project last year, releasing four singles and the full six song EP ‘Singing to the Angels’. Sarah offers an eclectic blend of acoustic Folk & Americana sounds with bits of country tossed in. With vocals reminiscent of Stevie Nicks and Madi Diaz and heartfelt lyrics ala Lori McKenna Sarah is carving out her own unique space in the singer songwriter world.

Songwriters in the Round concert and workshop series is presented by Sarah Peterson in partnership with Lanesboro Arts. Sarah Peterson is a fiscal year 2024 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
