Join poet and 2023 Lanesboro Artist-in-Residence Su Hwang for a Poetry Workshop at the St. Mane Theatre Studio from 5 – 7 pm on October 17th! Participants will have the chance to learn about different poetic forms, and then Su will teach them how to break them. Expand your poetry-writing toolbox with this free artist-led workshop, then share your work at the Poetry Open Mic the next evening on October 18th from 7:00 – 8:00 pm.
Su Hwang (she/her) is a poet, activist, stargazer, and the author of Bodega (Milkweed Editions), which received the 2020 Minnesota Book Award in poetry and was named a finalist for the 2021 Kate Tufts Discovery Award. Born in Seoul, Korea, she was raised in New York then called the Bay Area home before transplanting to the Midwest. A recipient of the inaugural Jerome Hill Fellowship in Literature, she is a teaching artist with the Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop and is the cofounder, with poet Sun Yung Shin, of Poetry Asylum. Su currently lives in Minneapolis. She was a 2023 Lanesboro Early Career Artist-in-Residence.
