Join Leo from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 11th as they showcase their unique watercolor drawing (not painting!) process. Leo starts with a traditional watercolor method of wetting the paper and then applying watercolor ink. Once that has dried, they use watercolor markers to draw trees and spiral markings. The result is a vibrant layered look that isn’t typically associated with watercolor.

Alongside demonstrating their process, Leo will invite visitors to participate in a drop-in workshop, and experience watercolor in a new way that might inspire participants to make new creations!

Leo Fortune (they/them) is a visual artist, author and educator whose watercolor marker drawings feature trees with detailed spiral backgrounds that inspire their writing. They received their Masters of Education in Second Languages and Cultures from the University of Minnesota and have taught English and Spanish Language Arts at public schools for 18 years. Leo is based in Minneapolis and their book, Los Arboles Hablan, Los Escuchas?//The Trees Talk, Are You Listening? is for sale at the Lanesboro Arts Gallery.
