Learn to Paint A Lanesboro Burro (Ages 14+)

  • June 9, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
  • St Mane Theatre – Upper Level Studio

Practice your painting skills in this adult painting class with artist and educator, Marlene Maloney!

Participants ages 14 and up will paint a realistic burro (inspired by the Lanesboro Burros!) and learn techniques for depicting light, depth, and texture with acrylic paint. After painting their pack animal pal, participants will crown their creation with the hat, cap or crown of their choice! This class will take place from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on June 9th in the Upstairs Studio of the St. Mane Theatre.

This Learn to Paint class will cost $15 at registration. Register online at the “Get Tickets” link above. All supplies are included with the registration fee (contact Leah Steding at Leah@lanesboroarts.org if a participant is in need of financial assistance).

Students will be using acrylic paint on an 8” x 8” canvas frame. Acrylic paints are water-based and offer opacity (meaning you can paint right over your mistakes!). This makes this medium especially great for beginners.

Marlene Maloney is a former graphic artist and middle school art teacher from Minneapolis. Since retirement, she’s been enjoying her own creative life working with pastels, watercolors, and acrylics. Her style is still evolving and loosening up with more expressive colors and brushstrokes. Marlene has painted many subjects but looks mostly to nature for inspiration. She loves Lanesboro and enjoys working with people and hopes to teach and inspire creativity in this community!

If participants have any questions – please contact Leah Steding, Program Associate at Lanesboro Arts, at leah@lanesboroarts.org

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund, as well as Grants from the Acentek Foundation and MiEnergy’s project Roundup.
