Join Lanesboro Arts and Gallery Artist Kim Gordon for a day-long class on Watercolor Batik! Starting at 9 am on Saturday, May 9th at the St. Mane Theatre Second Floor Studio, Kim will teach about the origins, basic techniques and experimental approaches behind her batik creations, and each participant will create a beautiful finished painting to take home.

In this one day class, students will learn about the origins of batik as well as the basics of working with a hot wax resist, experiment with traditional and non-traditional tools and work on pieces emphasizing patterns and color layering. In the afternoon, everyone will create a finished batik painting working from the theme of irises!
Class begins at 9 am on May 9th, and will last until 4 pm with a break for lunch in the middle. Participants must be ages 16 or older, and class size is limited to 10 people. Register to reserve you place at the link above! Class registration is offered at a sliding scale of $35 to $55 per person. All supplies are provided. No prerequisites or previous experience needed. All you need is your interest in color and learning a “new” ancient technique.
