Audacious Raw Theater Year 9: The Future Has an Ancient Heart

  • August 6, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
  • Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center + Google Map

Catherine Glynn’s A.R.T. (Audacious Raw Theater) and Lanesboro Arts proudly present year nine: The Future Has an Ancient Heart. Enjoy this year’s live devised theatre performance on Wednesday, August 6th at 7 pm at Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center’s North Campfire ring.

It’s true…Audacious Raw Theater (A.R.T.) is entering its Ninth Year, and they’ve decided to take a few cues from the wild world around us and shake things up a bit! This year, rather than bringing in professional performing artists from around the country to devise and perform the work, Core Artists Catherine (Catie) Glynn and Jerome Yorke are proud to offer a fresh new perspective on devised theatre-making by casting our net to a different set of creators.

Leaning into the wisdom of our elders, ancient texts, and the ideas from retired business leaders from around the world who are searching for creative ways to leave their legacies for future generations–these materials will serve as the seeds Audacious Raw Theater will sow, with what they hope to be a Minnesota-based, and mostly Fillmore County-centric cast!

To that end, throughout July and the first week of August 2025, A.R.T. will offer workshops both online and in Lanesboro, centered on this year’s theme: The Future Has an Ancient Heart. These workshops will culminate in a devised theatre performance featuring Core Ensemble Members Catherine Glynn, Jerome Yorke, and Futurist Jack Uldrich…and a few more brave hearts and souls to join them for the one and only RAW performance on August 6th at 7 pm out at Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center’s North Campfire Ring.

In the event of rain, the performance will take place in the “Lower Lobby” of Eagle Bluff’s dormitory space. The performance will run approximately 70 minutes, followed by a campfire if conditions allow. Tickets are on sale now for $20 ($15 Lanesboro Arts Members).

Call for Cast Members:

A.R.T. is looking for curious, open-hearted individuals of all backgrounds—no previous theatre experience required. The only thing you need to bring is your presence, your voice, and your willingness to play.

During the week of July 31 to August 6*, Participants will engage in daily sessions of ensemble-based exploration and co-create a final performance to be shared with the public. (Location for the workshops is TBD.)

This is a unique chance to work intensively with A.R.T., build community, and make powerful new work from the ground up. Whether you’re a mover, storyteller, visual artist, musician, or someone who loves to create with others, this is your invitation to explore embodied performance and devise something completely new from YOU!

About Audacious Raw Theater:

Since 2023, Audacious Raw Theater has been working with the overarching theme of Common Ground. Under this umbrella, they take on stories and performances that, at first glance, may seem polarizing in nature, and strive to uncover collective values that unite us. Learn more on the Audacious Raw Theater Website.

What is devised theatre? It means the ARTists build original theatrical performances through a series of conversations, writing exercises, movement exploration, and more, teasing out the stories and performances they want to share with live audiences.
