Lanesboro Arts presents a live artist demonstration by Juried Sales Gallery textile artist Ian Baldry. Come and learn more about the fiber arts, and see firsthand how these beautiful pieces are created, on Saturday, September 14 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. The event is free and open to the public.
Ian is a textile artist from Minnesota who creates fine knit sweaters and accessories from merino wool, cotton, and bamboo yarns. Always passionate about exploring new fiber arts, Ian acquired her first knitting machine ten years ago and loved it so much she started creating her own knitwear designs.
As a young farm girl in western Minnesota, Ian developed an interest in machinery while helping with the annual wheat harvest. She eventually chose a career as a mechanical engineer, but her love for the fiber arts continued to grow. Several years ago, Ian found a way to combine the two passions after procuring her first knitting loom. Influenced by Scandinavian textiles and her life growing up in rural Minnesota, she creates sweaters, vests, and accessories from extra-fine yarns on her knitting loom at her home studio in Minneapolis, MN.
