2024 Wood Group Show Applications

Applications for Art of The Grain: An Exploration of Working in Wood are due April 15th.

Lanesboro Arts invites artists to submit applications for the upcoming juried group show, Art of the Grain: An Exploration of Working in Wood. Through the exhibition, Lanesboro Arts seeks to showcase a range of woodwork, demonstrating the spectrum of wood as a medium from fluid to durable forms, from craft to functional pieces. The show will celebrate the diversity and creativity of wood artisans throughout the region, and will run from June 8th to August 11th, 2024.

The application deadline was April 15th, 2024. Applicants will be notified by May 1st. Applicants were asked to submit information about their work and images via Google Drive or DropBox. Any questions can be directed to gallery@lanesboroarts.org.

Wood Artisans are encouraged to push the envelope, demonstrating their uniquely refined craftsmanship in functional or purely aesthetic pieces that celebrate the medium. The Lanesboro Arts Exhibition Gallery is a limited space, and therefore, this show can accept a small number of large freestanding pieces. Smaller pieces (suggested footprint no larger than 2’ 6” x 2’ 6”) or those which can be displayed atop a pedestal or wall mounted are encouraged.

Priority will be given to artists whose primary medium is wood. Consideration will be given to all work that makes innovative use of wood as a source of inspiration. This work must demonstrate extraordinary craftsmanship and unambiguously relate to the show’s theme.

This juried group show is open to artists working in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Selected artists will be responsible for delivering/shipping their work to and from Lanesboro Arts by 5 pm on May 31st. Artwork included in this show will be for sale, under Lanesboro Arts’ customary consignment split, with 60% of sale price going directly to the artist, 40% going to Lanesboro Arts.

Lanesboro Arts serves as a regional catalyst for artistic excellence and educational development in providing diverse art experiences for people of all ages. The Lanesboro Arts Juried Sales and Exhibition Galleries strive to present accessible and diverse works that foster educational opportunities for visitors as well as impacting artists’ careers.
