Stay With, A Musical Gathering, Reckoning, & Listening Project with Ben Weaver

  • September 28 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
  • St. Mane Theatre

Lanesboro Arts invites you to Stay With, a musical gathering, reckoning, and listening project with songwriter and poet Ben Weaver at the St. Mane Theatre at 6 pm on Saturday, September 28th. This communal listening session and talking circle marks the release of Weaver’s new spoken word / musical album, Stay With.

Weaver envisions these gatherings as free gifts to the public, however registration is required for this intimate, limited capacity gathering. Register online at the link above.

Ben Weaver’s journey with music and poetry has been one of ongoing reckoning. Weaver’s new spoken word / musical album, Stay With, is a continuation of this reckoning in which he asks, “How do I use my gifts as a poet and musician in a way that serves community, gives back to the land and works to restore relatedness?”

Over the four years since he began work on Stay With in 2020, Weaver has been involved in a number of ongoing “community circle” work projects, including the Disrupting the Binding anti-racist workshop series in Lanesboro. For the release of Stay With, he is combining his poetry and songwriting with circle work to create gatherings that provide an invitation to share what is in our hearts and minds with one another. These gatherings are an opportunity to experience art collectively, letting it work through us in the presence of others. This is a space to share, listen, and reckon in public that Weaver sees as necessary and essential.

This event is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
