I have been a wood sculptor in the Bluff Country region over the last 30 years and active in that medium nearly 50 years. I have produced roughly 400 pieces including many (often symbolic or literary) character figures and portraits in thematic contexts such as fantasy woodlands, Native America, barrooms, maritime scenes, spirit worlds, and the circus. There are also many non-objective (abstract) works. My primary material is basswood, sometimes naturally finished or stained, but often vibrantly painted and occasionally including small objects from nature or manmade adornments. The sculptures may be freestanding, but the majority are wall supported reliefs usually composed of numerous assembled elements.
