For many of us, what draws us to wood is its touchability. Wood by nature is tactile – it’s warm, as compared to glass and ceramic; it can be rough or smooth; and depending on the species, the difference between summer and winter grain can be felt. Visually, the variations in grain make wood a very unique medium – piece to piece, you just never know what you’re going to get which makes working with it very exciting. With Pam’s mosaic pieces, she works to enhance and increase the tactile and visual experience that wood offers through the use of texture and color. The process of creating each piece is a unique and joyous experience and she hopes she imparts at least some of that joy to the viewer through her work.
