Area arts, business, and community leaders will gather Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Lanesboro Community Center to celebrate Lanesboro’s role as a living lab for community arts strategies at the Lanesboro Arts Fall Gala. Featuring silent and sealed bid auctions of fine art and unique experiences, the event benefits Lanesboro Arts’ year-round rural arts programs and creative placemaking efforts. This year Lanesboro Arts has invited three visual artists to compete in a Canvas Clash live-speed painting competition during a delicious dinner buffet prepared by Estelle’s Eatery & Bar of Harmony, MN. The paintings created will be offered in a live auction prior to a brief ‘Reach for the Arts!’ presentation. Dynamic Twin Cities string quintet The Gentlemen’s Anti-Temperance League will perform original hot jazz music inspired by the prohibition era. The event will also include a cash bar featuring KARST Brewing on tap and masters of ceremonies Jess Abrahamson and Tom Overlie of KTTC News.

The event begins at 6:00 p.m. with a cash bar, appetizers, live music, and the sealed bid and silent auctions. The sit-down dinner and Canvas Clash will follow around 7:00 p.m. and the ‘Reach for the Arts’ presentation will begin at 7:50 p.m., followed by desserts and dancing until the event wraps up at 10:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the event benefit the year-round programming of Lanesboro Arts, serving as a regional catalyst for artistic excellence and educational development in providing meaningful and diverse art experiences for people of all ages. In the heart of historic downtown, Lanesboro Arts hosts music, drama, and film events at the St. Mane Theatre, and houses two galleries featuring work by more than 90 regional artists. Lanesboro Arts programming also includes the annual Art in the Park fine art festival; the Lanesboro Artist Residency Program; classes and workshops, Surprise Sculpture, and Lanesboro Arts Campus Initiatives. The 2019 Fall Gala is sponsored by KTTC Television, F & M Community Bank, Preble Farmers Mutual Fire Ins. Co., POET Biorefining, Law Office of Thomas Manion, Merchants Bank, and the City of Lanesboro.
