  • Blue House Concerts + Google Map

This event has been postponed until later this year.

On Saturday, March 14th, Blue House Concerts, 607 Fillmore Ave S in Lanesboro, is partnering with Lanesboro Arts to bring back Eric Carranza, who was an Artist in Residence in Lanesboro last summer. This event is an intimate listening room concert, with 6-person band, as well as a CD release celebration for the Root River Vibes album that resulted from his collaborations with dozens of community members. CDs will be available, at a reduced rate during this very special, one-night-only, event!

Music starts at 7:30 p.m., at the Blue House, but come early at 7:00 p.m. and stay after it’s over to enjoy appetizers and dessert. Tickets are $15.00 at the door or $10.00 in advance, by contacting Drue Fergison at 507.438.5272 and Tickets for youth 18 & under are $5 each.

Eric Carranza was selected for a Jerome Emerging Artist Residency at Lanesboro Arts in 2019 through a competitive jury process.  He proposed the idea of gathering and recording stories from residents in the area and composing music inspired by the stories and his experiences in the Root River area.  Much of his time in Lanesboro was spent conversing with locals and biking different areas of the Root River State Trail to find sunny spots next to the river to create and record. By the end of the four-week residency, he had composed and recorded a 23-track collection of stories and a series of musical vignettes inspired by the people, landscape and atmosphere of Lanesboro.

This performance at Blue House will be the first and only live presentation of selections from the album with a 6-piece ensemble in Lanesboro.

Root River Vibes features stories and contributions by Bonita Underbakke, Duane Benson, Diane Knight, Paul Hamann, Ayla Madland, Betty Michaud, Nancy Martinson, Jeremy van Meter, Catherine Glynn, LaVonne Draper, Marti Gray, Pat Shortall, Sandy Webb, Bill L. Connelly, Richard Goodin, Robbie Brokken and Steve Sobieniak. The album also features Emily Dantuma on cello, Eliza Mitchell on harp, and Daniel Ekstrom on viola, as well as violinists Kate Dikareva, Nils Ekstrom and Isabelle Ekstrom.
