Sara paints landscapes to celebrate her lifelong fascination and awe of the natural world. She believes there is a strong connection between interpreting the landscape artistically and understand and respecting the environment. Her background as an ecologist and botanist heightens Her awareness and appreciation of the natural world and contributes a great deal to her artistic perspectives. Her approach to painting is two-fold: She paints out doors or “en plein air.” Painting en plein air is compelling because she reaches a deep level of awareness and connection to her surroundings. I also paint in the manner of the late 19th century Tonalist aesthetic: an older, quieter style of painting with an emphasis on the “Magic Hours” of dusk, twilight, and dawn. Enjoy!
