Marion designs and makes functional ceramics whose forms are sculptural. Her work has been described as “departing from the more expected shapes of functional ware to create refreshing and lyrical forms.” The work is hand-built and made of porcelain that is reduction fired to 2300 degrees F. Her pieces are designed for use in life’s special moments, be they large or small, happy or sad. Her goal is to create pieces that encourage people to recognize, mark and embrace these moments as important parts in their own life stories. While many ceramic pieces tell the artists’ stories, her pieces are created to become part of the stories of others. It is her pleasure to weave her work into the fabric of others’ lives and stories.
